A large-scale e-commerce redesign for one of the UK's established builders merchants.
Covers Builders Merchants serves trade and retail customers across a wide product catalogue. The existing e-commerce experience had grown organically over years — functional in parts, frustrating in others, and inconsistent throughout.
This was a design-only engagement: no build, just thorough, research-led UX and UI work. That meant understanding two distinct user types — trade professionals buying in volume and retail customers making considered one-off purchases — and designing an experience that genuinely served both.
The work covered the full e-commerce journey: homepage, category architecture, product pages, search, filtering, basket, and checkout. Every decision was grounded in user research and validated against conversion principles.
